Discord is where the CFC community interacts outside of our game servers. It's a hub for updates, banter, discussion, and lighthearted fun. Due to the free-flowing nature of this platform, it's become difficult to make and enforce rules that prevent negative behavior without stomping out fun.
CFC currently only has two individuals responsible for enforcing the rules across our entire Discord. The burden of preventing fights, stopping raids, and promoting positivity rests entirely on those two people. To make matters worse, those two individuals work full-time jobs and hold repsonsibilities in other parts of CFC.
Moderating the Discord sucks. There's no down time, the users don't take days off, and you're forced to make enormously difficult judgement calls about what is or isn't allowed. Often these decisions dip into morals and ethics. The users are hard-wired to already think less of you. It's tough, and it weighs on you.
But we need help. Our Discord is the cornerstone of our community. If we let it slip, the quality of our community slips in lockstep. If you're brave enough to step up to the plate, you'll be contributing to CFC in a way that most other people can not.
You will be a successful Discord Moderator if you have at least a few of the following qualities:
A Server Director is a member of the community who steps up to take on the primary responsibility of running a CFC-hosted game server. Directors will work closely with Phatso and the upper-staff team to create and grow a game server of your choosing. A Director will handle day-to-day operations, configuration, improvements, and fixes for the game server, with support from the development and staff teams.
Directors serve a critical role on CFC. We have the resources and know-how to run many servers, but we simply don't have the time or manpower. A Director's job is to take over the most time-expensive parts of running a server while the rest of the CFC team keeps it running. The success and growth of the server is entirely in the hands of The Director. While the rest of the team will help, the job of innovating and engaging the community falls on The Director.
Please know, being a Server Director is challenging, thankless work. You will hear significantly more negative feedback than positive, players will usually only come to you when they're upset. It can really wear on you. You will be a successful Director if you have at least some of the following traits:
CFC offers custom, user-controlled voice channels in our Discord to distinguished community members.
The Discord Moderators will help set up your voice channel, but you get to decide the name, rules, and access.
